This was Registration Day. I volunteered to help hand out the agenda packets, name tags, and welcome gifts. In the agenda packets you will find all sorts of information. Including the program of events, maps, directions, restaurants, speaker biographies, attendee biographies, and a list fabrics stores to visit.

Fabric Shopping and Simplicity Pattern Company Tour Day. I started my day with the Simplicity Tour. Our tour guide was wonderful, she has been working there for over 30 years and explained the whole process from sketch to envelope. Toured the facility and gifted us a Simplicity pattern and catalog book.

Fabric Shopping during PRW was a great opportunity to get discounts at top fabric stores in New York City. Since I'm more or less local, I went to one fabric which we all know and love from Project Runway....Mood Fabrics. They offered a ten percent discount and a free Mood Fabric Tote to all PR Members.

During the last day of PRW was Lecture Day and Dinner. At 9:00am we all met at Pace University to listen and learn from three wonderful speakers. The first was a couture designer, Kenneth D. King. His lecture was amazing, honestly I could have listened to his lecture all day. Showing his beginning designs all the way until what he's working on right now, he's funny and genuine. The second was Diana Rupp, a sewing author and teacher. She talked about how she started her business, why she loves it, and teaches sewing workshops right in Manhattan. Our last speaker was Jill Ralston for Fabulous Fit, a dress form system that will help you make a duplicate of your body shape. She talked about how she started in the fashion industry and gave us a demonstration on how to use the system. We also had a group Pattern Exchange or Swap. We each brought patterns from our stash that we wanted to exchange and pick out ones that we wanted to take home. Then it was off to dinner at Tony's Di Napoli at Times Square. The meal and service was so amazing, I highly recommend them.

I loved the whole weekend and for me it was an awesome value. From the guest lecturer's to the gifts from Simplicity, PatternReview.com, Pattern Review Members Pattern Exchange, Dinner, and a discounted Fabric Shopping Day. This year the cost was $115 per person, which was phenomenal price for wonderful sewing weekend. I would highly recommend anyone interested in sewing from beginners to expert, to join PatternReview.com, it's a free to join and a amazing community. A great place to find reviews for sewing machines, patterns, sewing workshops/classes, forums, contests/challenges, and of course sewing advice from the whole PR community.
